As the autumn arrives my mind start thinking about warm and cosy drinks like this spicy chai latte. I love the feeling of being warm inside my home with my hot drink whilst is chilly outside. This spicy chai latte is quite quick and easy to prepare, you´ll just need some spices and milk.
1 tbsp darjeeling black tea – You could use black teabags
8 cardamon pods
2 whole nutmegs
5 star anise
1 tbsp dried orange peel – You could use the peel of an orange
1/4 tbsp peppercorns
2 tbsp brown sugar
3 slices ginger
a cinnamon stick
a vanilla bean
2 cups almond milk – my favorite one is almond breeze, it is delicious and the milk is really consistent.
1 tbsp agave syrup
Serving Size: 2 cups
To make this spicy chai latte we are going to start by making the darjeeling black tea, I really like to use a french press coffee maker – the one that I have it makes 2 cups – Add a tablespoon of the darjeeling black tea on the french glass pot and pour some hot water until filling the french glass pot, stir the leaves to speed the process, then place the lid on top but don´t press it down, you just want to cover the french glass pot to maintain all the temperature inside it. Keep it in a side whilst we prepare the spicy chai milk.
In another small pot, add all the spices from the ingredients list – cardamon, nutmeg, star anise, orange peel, peppercorn, ginger, cinnamon, vanilla – add as well 1 tablespoon of brown sugar, then pour 2 cups of almond milk and heat the milk with the spices at low heat until warm, make sure that you stir it to get all the flavor from the spices.
Take your cup or jar in my case and brush the lid with the agave syrup, once you are done, dip it with brown sugar, so yum!
Now it is time to serve, take your french glass pot with the darjeeling black tea, lower the plunger, slowly, all the way down, turn the lid to open the spout and pour it in your jar, then add the spicy chai milk by pouring it with a strainer.
Love the feeling of the sweet grainy sugar on the lid whilst drinking this chai latte. This spicy chai latte is warm, spicy, tasty and vibrant, perfect to have with some biscuits in a chill afternoon! I hope you liked it! – Don´t forget to subscribe to my blog and to my youtube channel – x
